Bob Barker, the former longtime host of “The Price Is Right” and an animal-rights activist, passed away Saturday morning, per multiple sources citing his longtime publicist.
The game show television icon was 99. Barker hosted the popular game show from 1972 until his 2007 retirement.
He was a winner of 19 Daytime Emmy Awards and also received an Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1999 and was inducted into the Television Academy’s Hall of Fame in 2004, ABC7 News reported.
Barker received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1976 and has donated $5 million to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, a marine wildlife and environmental protection group, to help end international whaling.
The society went on to name a ship in their fleet the “Bob Barker.”
