A handyman in Florida has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead in the septic tank of her home over the weekend.
Detectives from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office found what is believed to be the body of 57-year-old Cynthia Cole inside the septic tank of her Jensen Beach home. She was last seen on Feb. 24, and authorities discovered her body late Friday evening into Saturday morning, NBC News reports. Cole’s body was “submerged in the contents of the tank about four feet underground.”
A 34-year-old man named Keoki Hilo Demich worked for Cole. Police arrested Demich and charged him with second-degree murder. Cole’s car was within walking distance of Demich’s home, reports NBC News affiliate WPTV of West Palm Beach. The footage shows Demich walking away from Cole’s car the night she disappeared. When police went looking for Cole, they noticed the cover to the septic tank looked odd.
No motive has been confirmed; Demich is in custody and is expected to appear in court on Monday.
