Boosie Badazz has reportedly expressed plans to marry his girlfriend Rajel Nelson, as revealed in a recent report by legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff.
During a recent court session for his felony gun case, the Louisiana native disclosed his intention to wed his long-time girlfriend. He requested the lifting of a no-contact order that had been imposed since his arrest in June on gun charges in San Diego, where he was detained after being seen with a firearm on Instagram Live.
In the courtroom, he requested that U.S. District Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo restore his contact privileges with his fiancée, citing their wedding plans. He stated, “My fiancée and I were planning a wedding. Do I need to postpone it?”
Boosie interrupted the judge to share that his wedding is scheduled for April 1st. The judge mentioned that he could request court permission for communication if it coincided with a specific event during the no-contact period.
According to Cuniff, the judge initially showed sympathy and openness to lifting the ruling, deeming it unnecessary to prevent Boosie from communicating with his partner, Rajel Nelson, who wasn’t present during his initial arrest.
The judge stated, “This is his fiancée, with whom he lives. This seems like a fairly serious restriction of his personal rights. And I’m not quite sure what the basis of it is, other than the vague assertion that she may have evidence.”
Despite the judge’s initial openness, prosecutors strongly opposed allowing Boosie and Nelson to communicate. After a sidebar with the judge, she reportedly extended the no-contact order for an additional 60 days but with a condition.
“It will lapse at 60 days if there is no additional evidence disclosed to the defense explaining why the condition should continue.”
According to reports, Boosie and Nelson have been dating since 2020 and made their relationship public after sharing a kiss at a basketball game.
