A Boston teen was arrested after allegedly caught on camera sexually abusing a horse at a Norfolk equestrian center.
Jackson Z. Kelley, 19, turned himself in on Tuesday morning. He is charged with sexual contact with an animal, cruelty to animals, and nighttime breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony.
Video surveillance at the Turner Hill Equestrian Stables showed Kelly standing on a stool and having sex with a female horse around 4:30 a.m. last week. He tried to conceal his crime by unplugging all of the security cameras in the barn, except one. Luckily, the single remaining camera caught the sexual assault.
“I felt violated. I felt lost. I felt scared,” stable owner Hilary Swarr told WCVB. “To see that someone would come into my own home and degrade a positive environment left me feeling violated.”
Swarr believes the suspect was familiar with how to handle horses. She also told the outlet that DNA samples had been collected from the mare. The horse was not injured during the assault.
Kelley was arraigned Tuesday and is being held without bail. His next court appearance will be on Friday, where it will be determined if he is a danger to the public.
