Bow Wow may be officially retiring from music with his final album being released by Death Row Records, where he started.
During a Q&A session on Twitter Friday morning, the 34-year-old actor/rapper was asked when he’ll work with Snoop Dogg again. Snoop was his mentor during the early stages of his career.
“Spoke to snoop last week. Very soon,” Bow Wow wrote. “My plan is to put my final album on death row and close my music career out where it began. I’m tryna do the d wade and come home and close it out.”
Back in the day, it was Snoop who gave Shad Moss the name Lil’ Bow Wow. Bow Wow did the kid skits on Snoop’s 1993 debut album Doggystyle and later signed with Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label en route to releasing his 2000 debut album Beware of Dog, Complex reported.
Snoop recently purchased the label from MNRK Music Group, formerly known as eOne Music, after it was purchased in 2019 for $4 billion by Hasbro.
“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” Snoop said in a statement. “It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members.”
