Bravo has put a hold on “Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard” after two seasons, though the reality series has not been officially canceled.
The second season concluded on May 26 with a reunion special hosted by Andy Cohen. The current cast included Nicholas “Nick” Arrington, Jasmine Ellis Cooper, Jordan Emanuel, Bria Fleming, Shanice Henderson, Amir Lancaster, Preston Mitchum, Summer Marie Thomas, Alex Tyree, and Noelle Hughly. The show follows young Black professionals vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard, an island historically significant as one of the first beach destinations where African Americans could vacation and purchase property.
“Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard” is one of several Bravo shows currently on pause, including “Winter House” and “Vanderpump Rules.” However, a paused show doesn’t always mean permanent cancellation, as seen with “The Real Housewives of Miami,” which was revived after an extended hiatus.
Meanwhile, “Summer House,” the original series, has been renewed for its ninth season, experiencing record viewership with its current season.
Following the news, several MV cast members took to social media to address viewers.
Bria Flemmings tweeted, “Hello everyone, Yes, the rumors are true. Our show, Summer House Martha’s Vineyard, has been put on pause. While it is disappointing to see this happen, we believe it will inspire us to explore new directions in our careers, personal lives, and businesses. #SummerhouseMV.”
Hello everyone,
Yes, the rumors are true. Our show, Summer House Martha’s Vineyard, has been put on pause. While it is disappointing to see this happen, we believe it will inspire us to explore new directions in our careers, personal lives, and businesses. #SummerhouseMV— Bria Fleming (@BriaFleming_) May 29, 2024
“If you are reading this, you’ve likely already heard the unfortunate news from Deadline, #SummerHouseMV has been put on pause until the powers that be figure out what’s in the best interest of the show, the cast, and you, the general public. While this news is undoubtedly disappointing because I deeply believe in the equitable investment in Black people and our content, it is one that oddly brings me a bit of peace to reflect, refocus, and reengage on the things I love. This is… see you soon. 💕,” Preston Mitchum wrote in a lengthy message.
