The home made famous as Walter White’s residence in Breaking Bad is now for sale with a $4 million price tag. Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the four-bedroom, one-bathroom house spans 1,900 square feet and is listed well above its estimated market value of $343,100, according to Zillow.
Listed by David Christensen and Sonya Avila of Christensen Group | eXp Realty Luxury, along with Ryan Johnston of InterPhase Entertainment, the property has become a global tourist destination since the Emmy-winning series, starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, ended in 2013. Fans regularly visit to snap photos, though access to the interior has always been restricted.
Joanne Quintana, who grew up in the home with her siblings, recently gave KOB 4 cameras a rare glimpse inside. Quintana’s late parents, Fran and Louis Padilla, bought the house in 1973. A knock on their door in 2006 forever changed its history.
“My mother never answers the door, and she did,” Quintana shared. “They introduced themselves and handed her a card, saying, ‘We would like to use your house for a pilot.’” Filming began just two weeks later, with the family receiving a one-time payment per shoot but no residuals.
The family cherishes fond memories of the cast and crew, especially Bryan Cranston. While Fran often baked cookies for everyone on set, Cranston refrained due to his character’s battle with cancer—until the final day of filming. “He finally indulged and even took a picture holding my mom’s biscotti,” Quintana recalled.
The show’s success brought unforeseen attention, with up to 300 cars passing by daily and fans occasionally taking things too far. Quintana recounted an incident where a package addressed to “Walter White” arrived at 4:30 a.m., prompting a bomb squad response. Over time, the family installed fences and motion-sensor cameras to manage the influx of visitors.
While Quintana did not elaborate on the decision to sell, she acknowledged the challenges of balancing her parents’ hospice care with the constant fan attention. “This was our family home for nearly 52 years,” she said. “It’s time to move on. We’re done. There’s no reason to fight anymore.”
