Brian McKnight is making it clear he will not stand by while damaging accusations circulate. The Grammy-nominated singer has filed a defamation lawsuit against fellow artist Jaguar Wright after she publicly accused him of physically abusing his ex-wife Julie McKnight and hiring sex workers for the purpose of abuse.
According to the lawsuit, McKnight denies all allegations and insists he had no idea Wright was allegedly related to his former wife. The legal move comes in response to recent public statements made by Wright that McKnight says are not only false but also malicious.
Wright, known for her work with The Roots and previous appearances on MTV Unplugged, has become infamous for making extreme and often unverified claims about some of the biggest names in the music industry. She has repeatedly targeted stars including Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and Sean “Diddy” Combs with a range of serious accusations.
In a 2024 appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Wright described Jay-Z as a dangerous figure and claimed both he and Beyoncé were involved in abusive and controlling behavior. She also made similar comments about Combs. Some of her remarks were later edited out of the broadcast, and Morgan publicly apologized for providing her a platform.
Wright’s reputation for stirring controversy has grown over the past few years, but this time her claims may come with legal consequences. McKnight’s lawsuit aims to hold her accountable and protect his name from what he describes as a calculated attack.
