"Viral Brick Lady" Found Guilty After Allegedly Faking Attack and Scamming GoFundMe Donors -- Ordered to Repay $42K

“Viral Brick Lady” Roda Osman

The woman once known online as the “Viral Brick Lady” has been convicted of theft after her shocking story of being hit with a brick turned out to be fake.

Roda Osman, 35, claimed in 2023 that a man threw a brick at her when she refused to give him her number, sparking outrage and raising more than $42,000 through a GoFundMe page. But during her Harris County trial, prosecutors revealed she spent the donations on vacations, restaurants, and spa visits instead of medical care.

After a short deliberation, the jury found Osman guilty of theft. She was sentenced to 10 years of probation, including 90 days in jail and mandatory substance abuse treatment. She must also repay the full $42,302 and is banned from using social media for the entire probation period.

Judge Dan Simons warned that any probation violation could land Osman in prison for up to 10 years.

Olan Douglas, the man she accused of attacking her, said he was thankful justice was served after facing online threats because of her false claim.

“Usually nothing happens. I’m very much happy,” Douglas told KPRC 2 News.

Osman was immediately taken into custody to begin her sentence, but was given the option to post a $50,000 appeal bond while her case moves through the appeals process.
