According to Reuters, British police will no longer take action against Prince Andrew after being accused of sexual abuse and linked to Jeffery Epstein.
After Virginia Giuffre filed a U.S. lawsuit accusing the prince of sexual assault, London’s police commissioner, Cressida Dick, stated in August that investigators would look into the allegations for the third time but would not open an investigation.
At the time, Dick said, Â “No one is above the law.”
“As a matter of procedure, MPS (Metropolitan Police Service) officers reviewed a document released in August 2021 as part of a U.S. civil action,” the police said in a statement on Monday. “This review has concluded, and we are taking no further action.”
In the lawsuit, Giuffre, 38, claims Andrew forced her to have sex when she was underage at the London home of Epstein’s longstanding associate Ghislaine Maxwell. The lawsuit also states that Andrew, 61, allegedly abused Giuffre in Epstein’s mansion in Manhattan and on Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands.
According to reports, Prince Andrew has always denied the charges and denied having any ties with Giuffre.
Due to his association with Epstein, who was being held on sex-trafficking allegations, he was forced to resign from his royal duties.
“It comes as no surprise that the Met Police have confirmed that, having reviewed the sex assault claims against the duke for the third time, they are taking no further action,” a source close to the prince said.
“Despite pressure from the media and claims of new evidence, the Met have concluded that the claims are not sufficient to warrant any further investigation. The duke has always vigorously maintained his innocence and continues to do so.”
The Sunday Times reported this week that Giuffre had been questioned by London police about her allegations.
The police said in a statement, “The Metropolitan Police Service continues to liaise with other law enforcement agencies who lead the investigation into matters related to Jeffrey Epstein.”
