Britney Spears will be given the opportunity to make an appearance before a Los Angeles court to address the conservatorship over her career, personal decisions and finances. The court hearing is scheduled for June 23.
During a Tuesday hearing, her attorney, Samuel Ingham, said Spears would like a hearing to “address the court directly.” The request was granted by Los Angeles Circuit Court Judge Brenda Penny. Ingham did not share what the pop star plans on speaking on specifically.
This will be the first time since 2019 that Spears has spoken to the court, as her past comments were reportedly not made public.
The legal team for Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, has declined to comment. This request comes after Spears asked the court for her father to be removed as her co-conservator. It wasn’t until the release of the New York Times documentary “Framing Britney Spears” that the court became open to hearing more information surrounding the arrangement of her conservatorship. Spears has been under the conservatorship since 2008.
