Brittney Griner is experiencing the lowest moment in her life following the 9-year sentencing the Russian courts gave her.
Her wife, Cherelle Griner, has said that the basketball player told her, “I feel like my life just doesn’t matter.”
While speaking with Gayle King this week about her wife’s condition, Cherelle said she had never seen her wife fall to such a low point.
After being accused of smuggling hashish oil to a Moscow airport in her luggage, Brittney was detained in February. She later admitted to the crime, and in August, she received a nine-year prison term. She is contesting the decision, but a hearing later this month will likely not work out in her favor.
Cherelle has said that the last time they spoke, she could see that her wife was in severe distress.
