Baller Alert caught up with Brittany Renner at the Basketball Wives Season 12 red carpet premiere, where the social media personality opened up about the powerful impact Islam has had on her life.
“Everything about Islam has drastically improved my life,” Renner said. “Not drinking, covering, being in hijab—this has greatly improved my quality of life. My interactions with the world, being present, being aware. Alhamdulillah.”
When asked if she felt the need to leave her old ways behind, Renner made it clear—nothing felt like a sacrifice. “Islam is meant to make life easier, and it has made mine easier in every way,” she added.
The transformation isn’t just personal—it’s spiritual. She credits her faith for improving every area of her life, including love. When asked about being spotted in public with rapper Kevin Gates, who’s recently referred to her as his wife in videos, Renner didn’t deny it.
“That’s not my cousin,” she joked, before the publicist in the background asked to move on to the next question before Renner could complete her thought. But when asked what her favorite part about being a wife is, her answer was crystal clear:
“Being with the person I love the most. His name echoes in every chamber of my heart.”
Renner also addressed critics questioning her faith journey or how it contrasts with past headlines.
“I answer to Allah. I don’t answer to mere mortals,” she said. “If I live for people’s praise, then I’ll die by their poison.”
On how her Basketball Wives castmates have responded to her spiritual shift, Renner stayed grounded.
“Real recognize real. Some people get it, some people don’t. But again—I don’t answer to mortals.”
