Brooklyn Pimp Charged With Severing Prostitute's Head and Sex Trafficking

Brooklyn Pimp Charged With Severing Woman’s Head and Sex Trafficking

On Tuesday, police charged a Brooklyn pimp with sex trafficking and murdering a woman in 2017 after he admitted to slicing up his prostitute lover and keeping her severed head in his freezer.

In November 2019, Somorie Moses, popularly known as “Sugar Bear,” was acquitted of Leondra Foster’s murder. Still, the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District has filed a new murder complaint against him.

According to officials, he’s also facing federal accusations relating to the sex trafficking of eight women, including minors, since 2003.

Moses was found not guilty of murdering Foster during his 2019 trial, much to the surprise of onlookers, yet he was convicted of negligent homicide and concealing a corpse.

Moses’ lawyer, Julie Clark, said throughout the trial that he couldn’t have killed her because he’s a businessman who doesn’t want to lose money, even though the defendant admitted he chopped up her body.

Federal authorities officially charged Moses on Tuesday with murdering Foster and dismembering her with a knife and saw. Moses reportedly took her torso and limbs to a Bronx landfill, but her skull, hands, and feet, including one with the name “Somorie” tattooed on her, were discovered by police inside a deep freezer at his apartment.

“Words do not adequately convey the depravity of the long list of actions Moses allegedly took to torment and terrorize women so he could traffic them for money,” FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Michael Driscoll said in a statement.

“He’s accused of storing a woman’s head in his freezer after killing her. Imagine how hard it is for his victims to come forward – but they have and should be commended for their bravery. They will help us bring Moses to justice for his alleged crimes and keep him from harming another human being.”

According to the US Attorney’s Office, Moses, 45, would promise his victims the possibility of marriage to start sexual relationships with them before forcing them to work as prostitutes.

According to the feds, he severely beat, raped, tormented, and intimidated his victims in Brooklyn and Queens to work as prostitutes for him.

“Sex trafficking is a modern form of slavery that uses violence and fear to force vulnerable individuals to work for someone else’s profit, in this case resulting in the alleged brutal murder of one of the victims,” US Attorney Breon Peace said in a statement.

“This Office will continue to prioritize investigation and prosecution of these heinous crimes. I thank the victims for their bravery in coming forward to report the defendant’s crimes and hope that this prosecution will help bring them and Ms. Foster’s family closure.”

The US Attorney’s office has said that this is the first prosecution under a federal provision that makes sex trafficking murder illegal.

Moses allegedly used a taser on one of the victims who refused to prostitute herself. According to the US Attorney’s office, he reportedly sliced a victim’s back and arms with a razor and then beat her with a belt before pouring lemon juice on her wounds.

He’s also accused of putting a shotgun in another victim’s mouth and threatening to kill her and her child when she refused to work.

Moses’ depravity was “truly beyond the pale,” according to NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell, who cooperated with the FBI on the case.

“The NYPD is committed to protecting the survivors of sex trafficking and holding fully accountable anyone who would seek to profit through the abuse and exploitation of another human being,” Sewell said in a statement. “The level of depravity allegedly shown in this case is truly beyond the pale.”

According to the US Attorney’s Office, Moses could face life in prison and the death penalty if proven guilty.
