The brother of a former NFL star is wanted in connection to a fatal shooting that took place at a youth football game in Texas on Saturday.
Yaqub Talib, brother of former Bronco Aqib Talib, has been identified as a suspect in the case. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
The Lancaster Police Department responded to multiple calls at the Lancaster Community Park around 8:50 p.m. When officers arrived at the field, they were notified that there had been a disagreement between the opposing coaching staff.
The disagreement turned physical, and one of the individuals pulled out a gun and shot an adult male. The victim was brought to a local hospital, succumbing to his injuries. The victim has not officially been identified.
Video taken by a witness has been circulating on social media that shows a fight breaking out on the field. You can hear shots ring out, but the video is not very clear. TMZ reports that eyewitnesses identified a man dressed in all-black and wearing a bucket hat as possibly a sibling of Aqib.
Aqib was reportedly present for the shooting but is not mentioned in the LPD news release.
“Aqib was present when this unfortunate incident occurred and is very distraught and devastated over this terrible loss of life,” his attorney told the outlet. “He would like to convey his condolences to the family of the victim and to everyone who witnessed this unfortunate tragedy.”
Police are asking anyone with information on Yaqub Talib’s whereabouts to call Detective Senad Deranjic at 972-218-2756.
