Six family members are dead following a murder-suicide pact made between two young brothers in Dallas, Texas.
The brothers, 21-year-old Tanvir Towhid and 19-year-old Farhan Towhid, “entered into an agreement that they were going to complete suicide, and from that, it went to where the entire family was taken with them.” The two killed their sister, parents, and grandmother.
Authorities discovered that one of the brothers wrote a lengthy social media post detailing the plan to kill their family and then themselves. He stated that he’d weighed out the pros and cons of murdering his family and decided to go through with it along with his brother. A friend alerted the police of the brothers being suicidal around 1:00 a.m., causing authorities to descend on the suburban home for a welfare check.
The victims have been identified as 77-year-old Altafun Nessa, 56-year-old Iren Islam, 54-year-old Towhidul Islam, and 19-year-old Farbin Towhid. Nessa, the grandmother, was visiting from Bangladesh and was scheduled to return home last week. However, COVID-19 restrictions forced her to extend her stay.
Fazia Rahman, who was friends with Farhan and Farbin Towhid, spoke highly of the family, saying that the parents “treated everyone like they were their own kids.”
“They were such great people. They genuinely touched the lives of everyone who they came in contact with. They were good people who had bright futures ahead of them.”
