The Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin remains in critical condition after collapsing on the field after Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“Damar Hamlin spent last night in the intensive care unit and remains there today in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.” the team announced Tuesday. “We are grateful and thankful for the outpouring of support we have received thus far.”
Early Tuesday, Hamlin’s family praised emergency personnel and the medical team at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for their “exceptional care” in a statement.
The family also expressed their “gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time.”
“Your generosity and compassion mean the world to us,” the family said. “Please keep Damar in your prayers.”
Family representative Jordan Rooney told ABC’s “Good Morning America” that Hamlin’s family is in “good spirits” and “taking it minute by minute, hour by hour.”
The only information Rooney could provide about Hamlin’s condition was that he was sedated.
“All I can say is he’s fighting,” Rooney said. “He’s a fighter.”
Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest after hitting Bengals player Tee Higgins during Monday night’s game. The team reported his heartbeat was restored on the field, and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center, where he remains.
