Buffalo Sabres Hockey Player Investigated For Sex Offense

Evander Kane of the Buffalo Sabres hockey team is under investigation for an undisclosed sexual offense. 

The Buffalo News reports that an incident occurred Sunday morning in a downtown hotel room near First Niagara Center. They did not name what the incident was, but they do say it is a sex offense and Kane is part of an ongoing investigation. 

“We have an investigation ongoing,” a police source said. “We are not naming the suspect, and we do not expect it to be resolved in the very near future.” Another police source said the woman involved was having “memory issues.”

Evander Kane has not been charged with any crime, however he did miss practice on Sunday morning for what the team says were “personal reasons”. The Sabres released the following statement:

“We take the allegation made today against Evander Kane very seriously. We are gathering facts and have been in touch with the NHL and Evander’s representatives. Until we have more information we will not have any additional comment.”

The NHL also issued a statement saying, “We are aware of and monitoring the investigation involving Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane. We will have no further comment at this time.”

Evander Kane is currently dating model, Mara Teigen.
