Since McDonald’s isn’t bringing back, the snack wraps anytime soon, Burger King has decided to take over.
The fast food chain has revealed its plan to introduce the “BK Royal Crispy Wraps,” a bite-sized variation of their BK Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwiches, launching on August 14th. The fresh addition to the menu arrives in three distinct flavors: traditional, spicy, and honey mustard. Each variant encases crispy chicken, tomato, lettuce, and the selected sauce within a tortilla. Priced at $3 per wrap, these crispy delights will be offered nationwide for a restricted period.
“We first introduced the BK Royal Crispy Chicken sandwich last August, and our Guests have loved it so much that we’ve turned it into a snack-sized wrap version,” Chief Marketing Officer Pat O’Toole said.
In 2006, McDonald’s pioneered the concept of combining hot breaded chicken, lettuce, cheese, and sauce wrapped in a soft tortilla. This ingeniously compact creation earned the name “Snack Wrap” from McDonald’s due to its ideal size for a quick snack, ultimately giving rise to an entirely new fast-food category.
However, in 2016, McDonald’s stopped offering their snack wraps. These discontinued items featured a combination of either crispy or grilled chicken, shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, lettuce, and ranch, honey mustard, or salsa sauce. Following suit, Wendy’s also removed their version, the grilled chicken ranch wrap, from their menu in March. This wrap consisted of chicken, shredded cheddar, lettuce, and a velvety ranch sauce; all enveloped within a soft flour tortilla.
