Busta Rhymes has revealed that a terrifying health scare during sex is what prompted him to drop 100 pounds.
The “Touch It” star is among several hip-hop greats to grace the new cover of Men’s Health Magazine. The adored MC detailed how he has been on a health journey recently after his weight skyrocketed in recent years. According to Busta, he realized he was no longer feeling his dad bod after a night of pound town with his former spouse ended with him having what appeared to be an asthma attack.
“I was having a really difficult time breathing, so I got up, and I walked out of the bedroom so she wouldn’t panic seeing me trying to keep myself calm,” the 51-year-old told the outlet.
Busta says he was struggling to inhale as he tried to force himself to relax. Though he tried to hide the incident from his ex-wife, she noticed the heavy breathing and became worried. Busta, who has never suffered from asthma, says the experience was enough to shake the couple up.
Since the scare, Busta has been an advocate for fitness. During his 2021 Men’s Health piece, he detailed his gym routine and consistency, which has been his key to weight loss. At the time, he shared that he’d also dealt with sleep apnea, which worried his son, who witnessed his troubled breathing on several occasions as Busta slept.
Luckily, those days are now behind him, with Busta looking and feeling better than ever as he rocks the stage alongside 50 Cent for his The Final Lap tour.
