Butterball CEO Jay Jandrain encourages consumers to get turkeys early this year as they could be harder to find. He also wants shoppers to expect higher prices this year, citing supply chain issues.
During an appearance on Cavuto: Coast to Coast, Jandrain said he also expects “small turkeys” to be harder to find this year.Â
Jandrain said he doesn’t anticipate any turkey shortages but noted that supermarkets began ordering things like turkeys, spices, and cranberry sauce earlier this year.
Consumers can expect all the elements that make up a Thanksgiving dinner to cost more this year. Fox Business reports that food prices are up 4.6 percent this year, with prices of meat, poultry, fish, and eggs up 10.5 percent.
“And while we don’t set the prices for our retailers, it is reasonable to expect that there will be some increase in cost this year,” Jandrain said.
