Byron Allen is reportedly be planning to put a bid in to be the next owner of the Denver Broncos.
According to Deadline, the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft pitched the idea to him back in November 2019. Allen says the men “asked [him] to take a good look at buying an NFL team.”
The news outlet says Allen said: “After serious consideration, I strongly believe I can help effectuate positive changes throughout the league.” He added that his decision was “the start of a process.” Before the recent lawsuit against Denver Broncos, Allen says he’d already had some interest in owning a team, mentioning that the opportunity to buy one often doesn’t come.
The Denver Broncos were placed up for sale last week, and CEO Joe Ellis says he expects the team to get bought by the start of the 2022 season. The team could cost up to $4 billion.
The news comes after Miami Dolphins former coach Brian Flores sued the Broncos, the New York Giants and the Dolphins over alleged racial discrimination and racist hiring practices.
