C-Murder has announced that he is undertaking a hunger strike to bring attention to the inhumane conditions and inadequate health standards that he has experienced while incarcerated in the Louisiana penal system.
On Thursday, the former No Limit Records rapper made an Instagram post to raise awareness about the mistreatment and disregard at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center. Additionally, he disclosed that he has been on a hunger strike since February 23rd.
“Jan. 17, 2023, marked 21 years I Corey Miller have been in the Louisiana Penal system,” he wrote. “I have been fighting for my health and freedom against this wrongful conviction and simultaneously fighting for my constitutional rights that were stripped away and violated by the penal system of Louisiana. An appeal was filed late December of 2022 and the DA & Judge of Louisiana has 30 days from Feb. 7, 2023 to answer.”
C-Murder stated that his health is rapidly deteriorating while in prison due to not having essential medical attention. Despite this, he emphasized that he remains steadfast in his hunger strike.
“It is imperative, NOW MORE THAN EVER, that a quick strategic move is made as my health has significantly declined due to the prison system’s inhumane conditions and I am not getting proper medical treatment,” he adds. “This has taking a major toll on me but I refuse to give up. Please Stand with me.”
This isn’t the first time the rapper went on a hunger strike. In August 2021, C-Murder protested against the unsanitary conditions and COVID-19 quarantine protocols inside the prison.
In 2009, C-Murder was found guilty of murdering 16-year-old Steve Thompson in 2002. C-Murder (born Corey Miller) was sentence to a life sentence and has currently spent more than 21 years behind bars.
