A California middle school is in shock after an assistant principal committed suicide on campus Monday morning.
At around 9:00 a.m., authorities responded to Kraemer Middle School in Placentia after a call came in about an unresponsive man in a bathroom. Once there, they located the body of Moises Plascencia inside a bathroom located in a staff area. There was a firearm near his body. Students were not yet on the campus, and there were no witnesses to the incident.
Superintendent Jim Elsasser said in a statement that he was “struggling to find adequate words to convey the shock and heartbreak we are all feeling right now.” Elsasser said that Plascencia was a friend to many at the school.
School principal Michael Young also released a statement expressing his immense grief but reiterated that Plascencia loved the students at Kraemer Middle School. Classes were canceled for the remainder of the day on Monday, and grief counselors will be assisting students and faculty members.
As of now, no additional information has been released regarding a motive or if a suicide note was left behind.
