A California judge ruled on Monday that Donald Trump will have to pay $44,100 to Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels, to cover her legal fees in the case surrounding her nondisclosure agreement, CNN reports.
The former porn star says she had an affair with Trump from 2006 to 2007 and signed a $130,000 nondisclosure agreement with former Trump attorney Michael Cohen. Cohen represented a shell corporation and a “David Dennison,” which Clifford claims is a fake name for Trump.
Trump has denied the affair, and in 2018 Clifford sued Trump to be released from the NDA. Outside of court, Trump and his legal team agreed not to sue or otherwise enforce the NDA, resulting in the dismissal of the suit.
Monday’s decision, handed down by Judge Robert Broadbelt III, was in response to an attempt by Clifford to recoup costs and lawyer fees related to the case. He found her “the prevailing party” under California law, despite the case being dismissed, the publication reports, rendering Trump, a party to the agreement.
