A California man caused a car accident after shining a laser into another driver’s eyes and causing her to crash into his vehicle.
Scott Socea, 46, was issued a citation for brandishing a weapon for causing Saturday’s collision.
According to a Victor Valley Sheriff’s news release, the victim was driving on Highway 138 in Phelan around midnight. Socea was driving behind the woman and felt she was moving too slowly.
He passed the victim, moved his car in front of hers, and then break-checked her. The victim flashed her bright lights in response.
“Socea then shined a green laser back at the victim’s car and directly into her eyes,” according to the release. “The victim was unable to see due to the laser shining directly into her eyes, and rear-ended Socea’s vehicle.”
The laser was confiscated at the scene and booked into evidence.
