A pediatrician who works at Stanford Health’s Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto has been arrested after police allege he tried to lure underage girls for sex.
According to an arrest report from Redwood City police, 33-year-old Dylan O’Connor was arrested on Friday on charges of traveling to meet an underage girl for sexual purposes and for sending harmful material to a juvenile, both of which are felony crimes.
NBC Bay Area TV station KNTV reported that the hospital said in a statement, “These are serious criminal charges, which we understand are still under investigation by law enforcement, so we are unable to comment further at this time.” The hospital has since released O’Connor from his duties and put him on administrative leave after learning of his arrest.
O’Connor was being investigated after Redwood City police received a tip from the San Jose department’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit. Police say that as part of their investigation, the officers who monitored O’Conner’s electronic media allegedly found “personal photographs of a pornographic nature sent by the suspect.”
Further into the investigation, it was “revealed that an adult male was attempting to lure a self-declared underage female to a designated location with the intent to engage in sexual activity with her.” According to police, “When the suspect arrived at the arranged location, he was arrested without incident.”
A search warrant served afterward at the suspect’s home led to the seizure of electronic devices to identify more possible victims, police said.
