An Italian restaurant in California is asking customers to prove they haven’t been vaccinated.
Basilico’s Pasta e Vino in Huntington Beach was once fined $165,520 for failing to abide by the state’s COVID-19 regulations. Now, the food joint is requiring its guests to provide proof they’re unvaccinated.
“We have zero tolerance for treasonous, anti-American stupidity. Thank you for pondering,” read a Facebook post on July 22. “More American counties, cities, and businesses doubling down on anti-American lockdown mandates? Well, ‘Basilico’s Pasta e Vino’ just tripled down,” the restaurant’s Facebook post caption reads. “From day one, never complied, banned masks, and now…requiring proof of being Un-vaccinated!”
According to ProPublica, despite the restaurant’s owner, Tony Roman, allegedly claiming to not believe in the pandemic or COVID-19’s existence, Roman accepted $57,738 in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) money. The PPP program provided funds to small businesses that may have been struggling due to the government shutdown caused by Rona.
Yahoo! News reports the restaurant is allegedly maintaining its ban on vaccinated customers. The owner also allegedly won’t allow customers to wear a mask.
