Disney recently announced the creation of Storyliving Disney, a community of Disney-branded homes.
The community will be called Corino and have around 1,900 housing units located in Rancho Mirage, California. The community will primarily focus on storytelling, Thrillist reported.
Josh D’Amaro, the chairman of Disney parks, says the new experience would provide fans the chance of being a part of Disney all the time. “Every single element of these communities will be steeped in a story,” and the residents will be active participants, he added.
It doesn’t seem like the community will have rental units available, but it will include an assortment of properties such as condominiums, single-family homes, and estates, and also specific neighborhoods will include one “designed for adults 55+.”
There will also be cool amenities. The blueprint for the community will have a centerpiece lagoon with a beach that will be accessible to members of the community’s private club, hotels, and an entertainment, dining, and shopping center.
The community will also offer residents live entertainment, wellness programs, and seminars.
Disney will not own or develop the communities or be in charge of selling the homes. But it will assist with the design of the community, manage its marketing, and have Disney employees who will work as cast members to oversee the neighborhood’s day-to-day operations.
This is not the first Disney community to be made. The company previously opened Golden Oak, a luxury resort home community that’s only five minutes from Disney World in Florida, in 2011.
The pricing, financing, and other details on Cotino’s general cost of living have not been released, but the company hopes to have more information on the community by the end of the year.
