A woman captured on video intentionally coughing in a baby’s face at a California yogurt shop may be a special education teacher.
The incident took place on June 12 inside a Yogurtland in San Jose, California, and has since gone viral. And was so appalling it triggered a public search for her identity.
Apparently, it transpired because the woman was upset that the child’s mother was not maintaining the six-foot social distancing set in place due to COVID-19.
It was then a verbal confrontation unfolded between the two, the woman then removed her mask, approached the stroller and coughed on the baby three times, the San Jose Police Department report claims.
According to the Daily Mail, social media believes the woman is a special education teacher with the local Oak Grove School District, however, police have yet to confirm. She immediately left the store following her heinous acts.
The district released a public statement condemning the “despicable” and stated the woman is “currently off of work and not providing any services to our District students” until police conclude the details of the incident.
“The incident that occurred at Yogurtland is despicable. There is no place in the Oak Grove School District for any employee who would deliberately cause harm to a child. If the District receives confirmation from the San Jose Police Department that the individual involved in the Yogurtland incident is our employee, we will take immediate action,’ the statement read.
Regardless of the identity, once the suspect is determined, they will face misdemeanor battery charges, and hopefully, cruelty to children, which would prevent them from working with children ever again.
