A Compton, California woman is $50,000 richer after she won the state’s vaccine lottery.
Pamela Jackson was one of many state residents who won $50,000, Los Angeles CBS Local News reported.
California took funds from its state lottery to create the special incentive program, “Vax for the Win,” with hopes of encouraging more people to get vaccinated.
“I can’t say it enough. Everybody needs to get it,” Jackson said. “Think about your families. Just think about people. You know, everybody needs to get it.”
Although the program ended at the beginning of July, those who received their first dose of the vaccine between May 27 and July 18 are still eligible to receive a $50 incentive card.
The program also offered free tickets to Six Flags Magic Mountain, which may be available at select vaccination sites.
