Cam Newton Calls Out Jason McIntyre For Claiming He Has a Worse Career Than Dak Prescott [Video]

The various takes around Cam Newton’s “game managers” comments have had multiple journalists showing their hands. Some of the most egregious takes, due to recency bias, have made Newton seem like a bitter old quarterback who did not have much success.

On December 15th, Fox analyst Jason McIntyre filled in as co-host for Collin Cowherd’s noon show on FS1. During the show, he made some controversial comments about Cam Newton, praising his achievements before calling him “salty.” He also claimed that Newton’s “game manager” label was code for players in less athletic positions. Furthermore, he argued that Prescott had a better career than Newton, who he believes has underperformed.

“Cam Newton you had a worse career than Dak Prescott. Dak Prescott has had a better NFL career than Cam Newton… he is gonna age gracefully in the league and he’ll know how to hold a clipboard and be a backup, as opposed to being a showstopper like Cam Newton was,” McIntyre said.

The former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback took nearly a month to reply to McIntyre. This was after Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys were eliminated in the wild card round by the Green Bay Packers, losing 48-32 at home. In the game, Dak threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown.

Cam was very simplistic in what he said and how he felt that the graphic Jason McIntyre showed during his rant is the exact problem that often media sports journalists on these high-level networks have.

“Don’t give me any backhand compliments,” Newton said to the camera as he played the McIntyre video. “I was a dual threat quarterback,” Newton mentioned as the graphic showed his and Dak’s records and passing statistics. “Add in rushing touchdowns. They try to manipulate the narrative, instead of speaking about what I said they try to poke at the person,” Newton said.

For context, Cam Newton accumulated 5,628 rushing yards in comparison to Dak’s 1,884 currently. Newton also triples Dak’s rushing touchdowns, as he sits with 75, and the Cowboys Quarterback only has 28.

Newton mentioned if he would have started poking through McIntyre’s career, he wouldn’t approve of it.

“Failed situations, got fired from a job, flunked out of college. If I were to really do that then I would be evil. I’m the bully,” Newton said in agreeance with his co-host.

To some, Newton had a hall-of-fame-worthy career, while others saw him as just a quarterback who received a lot of attention. However, some people tend to forget that at one point, he was voted as the best player in the NFL by his fellow players.
