Cam Newton likes to challenge himself, even in the offseason. The NFL star believes that creating and passing the challenges he sets up for himself- make him stronger.
During the offseason, Newton has been knocking out different challenges each month. For January, he challenged himself to go the month without gambling. For February, he went vegan. For March? The quarterback has given up sex.
Newton explained his decision during his appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” on Thursday night.
“So we got vegan in February, and then March I’m giving—I hope this is an adult crowd; it looks like it is—no climax,” Newton said. “Straight up. I’m going through a transition right now.”
When Corden’s other guest, David Boreanaz, suggested Newton should’ve done his no-climax challenge in February as February is the shortest month, Cam responded: “I wanted it to be challenging, I’m coming off of shoulder surgery. I’m looking for –that’s including no Wi-Fi. So, no Wi-Fi. No thigh-thigh.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As he told Corden and Boreanaz, “It makes my mind stronger,” he said. “So when the season comes around, I say if so did those things, I’m mentally stronger.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Time will only tell if Newton’s challenges have helped his focus and strengthened his discipline for the game. We’ll see when the pre-season starts later this year.
