Cam Newton will be returning to the New England Patriots in a new lucrative, one year deal.
Newton is reportedly finalizing a deal worth up to $14 million, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Nearly $6 million of which is tied to incentives, another source told ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
The 31-year-old QB posted a video on Instagram earlier today which seemed to confirm the news, with a caption that read in part, “Run it back!! Chapter 2.”
In an interview with the “I Am Athlete” podcast last month, Newton revealed that he would be open to another one-year deal with New England, after signing a modest one-year deal with the team in 2020.
“I’m getting tired of changing [teams],” Newton said. “I am at a point in my career where I know way more than I did last year. Yes, I would go back.”
