Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has already found a great way to spend his next offseason. The 26-year-old NFL star has been vocal in the past about his love for kids. Through his team, as well as through his foundation, he has been able to bring happiness to a number of young kids all throughout the country. Now, in his latest venture, Newton will be teaming up with Nickelodeon in the offseason to make dreams come true for a group of very special kids.
On Tuesday, Nickelodeon announced the greenlight of “I Wanna Be”, a new TV series that will feature Newton as he helps kids on the journey to achieve their wildest dreams. The new show, which will premiere in 2016, will showcase a number of kids who have some pretty big dreams, whether it be decorating award-winning cakes or singing on Broadway. With Newton guiding them along the way, these kids will be able to get one step closer to reaching their goals. Each episode will follow two kids on their journey as Newton, along with a team of expert mentors, help make their dreams become a reality.
“Time in the spotlight has made me realize the importance of creating positive messages to inspire the next generation,” Newton says. “I’m very passionate about mentoring young people, and this show will be the perfect opportunity to help talented kids get the chance to pursue their dreams. And to be able to do it all on Nickelodeon – a network I grew up watching – is extremely exciting.”
