Cam’ron and Ma$e have accused ESPN of appropriating a segment from their “It Is What It Is” sports debate show.
In a recent episode, Cam’ron and Ma$e specifically called out presenters like Malika Andrews and Kendrick Perkins. They voiced their dissatisfaction of the use of the word “cap” in a segment that ESPN recently introduced as part of their debate shows.
“That’s crazy,” Ma$e said. “We need to jack them back. Pause. Malika Andrews and Kendrick Perkins, they be like, ‘So is this cap or not.’ When the f*ck did y’all start writing about what’s cap?”
He added, “Secondly, I don’t think Malika might know what cap was until somebody said, ‘We’re gonna do a cap segment. For ESPN to throw a cap segment in there, we just did the cap hats and all types of sh*t. Now they got a cap segment.”
Coincidentally, the most recent episode of It Is What It Is included a guest appearance by Paul Pierce, a renowned Boston Celtics legend who had been dismissed by ESPN back in 2021. In April 2021, the former NBA analyst made headlines when videos of him partying went viral on social media, leading to his dismissal from ESPN. Almost two years have passed since the incident, and the Hall of Famer continues to express his astonishment and disbelief at ESPN’s choice to terminate his contract.
“I got fired for what? I got fired for having some entertainment,” Pierce told the I Am Athlete podcast. “I’m playing cards, it’s my boy’s birthday, it’s girls dancing and we blowing some tree, what did I do wrong?”
