Cam’ron has taken notice of NBA guard Anthony Edwards’ new Adidas commercial, where the Timberwolves star seems to address the rapper’s past comments.
Following the Minnesota Timberwolves’ elimination from the second-round playoffs, Edwards shared an ad for his custom basketball shoes on Friday, May 31.
In the ad, Edwards practices his moves while a receipt machine prints out negative comments about him that he is determined to disprove.
“Cam’ron said, ‘To me, he’s an All-Star, but not a superstar, yet,’” reads his friend Slick, to which Edwards responds: “Fuck, buddy.”
Shortly after the video went live, Cam’ron shared it on his Instagram with a playful response.
“#Fuckbuddy [two laughing emojis, three fire emojis] commercial!! Thx @adidas for the love,” he wrote. “And I had antman back this whole time but I’ll address this Monday on the show… love the attitude tho. Only thing I would say is get a better looking lesbian to read the receipts.”
While the Dipset MC has stirred up plenty of buzz since transitioning from rap to sports media, he’s also found significant success in this new field over the past year.
During a discussion panel at Black Enterprise’s 2024 Disruptor Summit earlier this month, Cam’ron reflected on starting his show *It Is What It Is* in 2023.
“I did three or four episodes by myself,” he began. “I invited Ma$e to be a guest on the show, and he was like, ‘Yo man, this is really dope — do you want to go half on it?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, we can go half, let’s do it.’
“He didn’t even have to put any money up, but he was willing to. I probably did four or five episodes, and they offered me a million dollars, and I said, ‘No.’ By the time we got to ten episodes, it went up to like three million dollars, and I knew we had something special.”
He continued, “We actually did 35 episodes. We struck a deal, but I probably spent $127,000 because I just kept shooting and shooting. Ma$e had this number in his head. When it reached six million dollars, I told Ma$e we had to take the deal. He had a specific number in mind and was like, ‘Cam, we need to wait.’ Eventually, we secured a $20 million deal.”
