Can We As Women Enjoy Being Sexual Without Feeling Labeled?

So of lately I found myself listening to Beyoncé’s “Flawless” over and over again just to hear the empowering words of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, If you’re not familiar with her work, I’ll go ahead a give you brief summary on who she is. Chimamanda is a Nigerian writer who advocates for women rights especially their right to freely express their sexuality without being judge. If you’re interested in her work I suggest you read her books “Half of a Yellow Sun” and “Americanah” these are great reads trust me!

Anyways, Chimamanda really did grab my attention in “Flawless” when she said that we teach our girls  that they cannot be sexual beings in the way that boys are, and I said to myself why do we teach our girls and women that expressing their sexuality is a bad thing. Then I realized why, it’s because we as a society have put a label on it, these sexual beings are called “Hoes”. Now the next question is if a female wants to be a sexual being like a male, why should she be labeled? Why can’t we as women be able to freely express our sexual side without feeling  judged or being slut-shamed by other women. Clearly our society has put regulations on how a women should conduct herself and if she falls over that “line” she’s deemed undesirable, she becomes a hoe and no more wanted. We as women also play apart in this, I’m sure we’ve all had a home girl whose had quite a few one night stands and all we can think is “Girl who you acting like a Hoe” or when we see celebrities like Rihanna or Kim Kardashian and all we can say is “Why she carry herself like that, why she looking like that uh-uh she need to do better” but in all honesty should these women be labeled in such a manner, I mean they are grown women who are just doing them and exploring their sexuality. Nothing should be wrong with that, right?

Also lets be real what’s consist of being called a thot, is it because she likes to have sex or is the clothing that she wears, or how about if she’s a flirt is she one then. I feel like any grown respectable woman who knows what she wants should not be labeled. If she wants a man just for the D, no need to call her a thot she just about hers. Then again you do have those women who purposely use their bodies to get ahead in life, no these women might need to be labeled, but this is just my opinion.

Ballerific Family what are your thoughts, should women who enjoy their sexual side be shamed or labeled?
