Candace Owens is reacting to news that the family of the late George Floyd is considering filing a lawsuit against Kanye West over claims the rapper made on the ‘Drink Champs’ podcast.

Ye appeared on the most recent episode of the popular Revolt TV podcast, where among many things, he said that Fentanyl, and not being suffocated by officer Derek Chauvin’s knee, was the cause of Floyd’s death — echoing the claim made in Owens’ George Floyd “documentary.”

“They hit (Floyd) with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that,” Ye said. “They said he screamed for his mama; mama was his girlfriend. It’s in the documentary.”

Owens reacted to the news of the potential lawsuit Monday.

“George Floyd’s family didn’t even stop by his house to collect his belongings. They left his car and personal items abandoned in his house. Now they’re mad my documentary TELLS THE TRUTH about the fatal levels of fentanyl discovered in Floyd’s autopsy,” the conservative commentator tweeted.

“When did George Floyd first utter the phrase “I can’t breathe”? While he was upright resisting arrest, before he ASKED to be put on the ground. I am sorry your media lied to you. #GreatestLieEverSold,” she continued in a separated tweet.

46-year-old George Floyd died while being restrained by former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin in May 2020.

Despite claims made by Owens and Ye, the medical examiner who performed Floyd’s autopsy found that his death was the result of “cardiopulmonary arrest” that occurred during “law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression,” CNN reported.

During Chauvin’s trial, Dr. Martin Tobin, a pulmonologist and critical care specialist at Loyola University Medical Center, also testified that Floyd died of a lack of oxygen from being pinned to the ground with a knee on his neck, adding that “a healthy person subjected to what Mr. Floyd was subjected to would have died.”

An independent autopsy commissioned by Floyd’s family also similarly ruled that “asphyxiation from sustained pressure was the cause” of the man’s death.

While Floyd’s autopsy did reveal 11 nanograms per milliliter of fentanyl were found in his blood, medical professionals called as prosecution witnesses agreed that the amount of fentanyl was not enough to be considered fatal.

Chauvin was convicted in April 2021 and is currently serving a 22 1/2-year sentence for Floyd’s death.
