Who better to drag Donald Trump than Cardi B and Bernie Sanders?
Former presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders and rapper Cardi B hopped on Instagram live Tuesday night to discuss the recent actions of Trump, and where the nation stands amid the #coronavirus outbreak. The call started off with Cardi expressing how frustrated she is with Trump misleading the country about the severity of COVID-19 and blaming Democrats for allegedly making him look foolish for his reaction to the disease.
“One thing that baffles my mental, right, about number 45 s that, when this coronavirus news was hitting and everything, he just kept blaming, that this was a move by the Democrats to make him look bad. That everything the Democrats do is bad propaganda to make him look bad,” she said. “Honey, you don’t need the Democrats to make you look bad. You make your own self look bad.”
Cardi B then moved on to asking Sanders about endorsing Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. “A lot of people like the youth, they don’t rock with Joe Biden, because he’s conservative. I want you to explain to my platform, why are you endorsing him?” His response was that Trump is “a bad-news guy that has got to be defeated.” He added that he intends to “work with Joe” to push him on progressive ideas.
The two New Yorkers have discussed their political views with one another before. Last summer, Sanders partnered with Cardi B on a video that was created to attract support from young voters, USA Today reports. But, without Sanders, Cardi has always had her mind on serving the community. Back in January, the 27-year-old opened up about running for office and expressed how she wanted to address issues like gun violence and gun control.
“Cardi B is deeply concerned about what’s happening in the country,” Sanders told TMZ ahead of the Democratic debate in Iowa. “She knows what it’s like to live in poverty and struggle, and it would be great for her to bring that experience to politics.”
