Cardi B isn’t one to stay quiet when the internet comes for her, and she’s clapping back at users on X once again.
This time, the conversation revolves around her describing herself as light-skinned. Some users questioned how Cardi could consider herself light-skinned when the term is typically used to describe a Black person with a lighter complexion.
Cardi, never one to back down, made it clear that she wasn’t here for the criticism. “Dominicans are so diverse when it comes to skin color—dark, brown, tan, light, white,” she fired back. “So what am I supposed to say when I’m describing my complexion? I’m Dominican skin?”
One user argued that what she was saying didn’t make sense, especially when she used the term “whites.” Cardi shut it down immediately: “WHITES IS A COLOR AND A RACE. DOMINICANS ARE A NATIONALITY WITH PEOPLE that are different COLORS AND SHADES… NOT A RACE… Get your glitter hole out of here wit this fake rule you just came up wit.”
She didn’t stop there. Cardi even dropped the definition of “light skin,” pointing out that the term describes skin complexion and isn’t exclusive to one race. “I guess Jamaicans and Haitians and West Indians can’t say they got brown skin, light skin, or dark skin because just like Dominicans, they are also a nationality,” she added.
This isn’t the first time Cardi has had to defend her skin tone. Just last month, she had to address rumors that she was bleaching her skin, which she has denied.
As you know, Cardi B is half Dominican and Trinidadian.
