Cardi B’s legal team is firing back after a new civil lawsuit was filed over her viral 2023 microphone toss in Las Vegas.
The rapper’s attorney, Drew Findling, dismissed the complaint as a shameless attempt to profit from her fame.
“The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County District Attorney’s Office closed this matter for insufficient evidence a long time ago,” Findling said in a statement to TMZ. “But apparently, the opportunity to try to make money off of a celebrity was too much for some willing law firm to pass up.”
Filed by a woman identified only as Jane Doe, the lawsuit claims she was physically and emotionally harmed when Cardi B threw a microphone into the crowd during a performance at Drai’s Beachclub. The woman insists she was following instructions to splash water on the artist, but says Cardi’s response went too far.
Findling made it clear that the claim holds no legal weight, especially since the case was previously reviewed and dismissed by law enforcement. He emphasized that the civil action is not about justice but about exploiting celebrity status for financial gain.
Despite the plaintiff’s emotional distress claims and her objection to the mic later being auctioned for charity, Cardi B’s legal camp appears confident that the courts will view the lawsuit for what it is: a publicity-driven reach.
