Cardi B recently shared with Billboard that her role as a mother has deeply influenced her outlook on life.
The rapper, now 32, revealed that raising three children has shaped the way she defines maturity, sacrifice, and strength.
During the interview, Cardi described her admiration for her mother, who worked tirelessly to keep the family afloat.
“My mom used to be a freakin’ cashier, and she used to work every single day,” Cardi said. “To this day, I still talk about how hard my mom worked. I had a very rough childhood, but my mom always made sure we ain’t go to no shelter.”
“I want my kids to be like, ‘My mom made sure I had everything that I wanted,’” she explained. For her, providing stability and love are the most important responsibilities she carries.
Motherhood has also given Cardi a clearer sense of womanhood.
“It turned me into a real woman. I was like, ‘What makes a woman? Her body? Her cooking?’ It’s her maturity and her thinking,” she told the outlet. “If I didn’t have kids, I wouldn’t sacrifice so much.”
Those sacrifices often mean pushing her own needs aside.
“This summer, I haven’t even put my feet in a pool. I do everything for my kids. I’m the only provider, and you know what? Ain’t no complaining about it,” she admitted. “I love them so much, and they ground me.”
Although she acknowledged that motherhood can leave her “exhausted,” Cardi believes every moment of effort is worth it.
Her role as a mother has unfolded alongside her turbulent relationship with Offset. The two married in 2017. She filed for divorce in 2020, but they later reconciled. In July 2024, Cardi filed for divorce from him again last year.
Together, they share three children: Kulture, 7; Wave, 3; and Blossom, who is 11 months old.
