Cardi B has responded since being called out on social media after a clip surfaced of her unable to recall the designer of her Met Gala gown and referring to him as ‘Asian.’
A user on X shared screenshots of representative Gilbert Cheah for US Vogue, calling out the ‘Enough‘ rapper.
“For the record and recognition, and no thanks to Cardii B, the designer of her gown is Sensen Lii who’s Chinese,” he wrote. “The gown took two months to make. I personally think it’s boring and not even on theme but she chose it and should have at least remembered his name and not just that he’s “Asian.”
After Cheah’s comment gained traction online, Cardi responded on Twitter. She argued that using “Asian” was preferable to misidentifying someone’s nationality or not acknowledging it at all. She also dismissed Cheah’s criticisms, pointing out his views were insignificant as he was no longer affiliated with Vogue.
