Ohio Woman Sues Cardi B Over Microphone Incident at Las Vegas Concert

Cardi B is facing a lawsuit from an Ohio woman who claims the rapper seriously injured her by throwing a microphone at her during a performance in Las Vegas.

The incident happened at Drai’s Beach Club on July 29, 2023, and although it was reviewed by local authorities, no criminal charges were filed at the time.

The woman, identified as Jane Doe in court documents, says she traveled to Nevada alone to attend the Grammy-winning artist’s show. In her complaint, she describes extreme heat during the outdoor performance and claims Cardi B addressed the audience and requested water be thrown on her to help cool down.

According to the lawsuit, the rapper poured water on herself during her set and encouraged fans to do the same. The plaintiff’s legal team says the environment was shaped by Cardi’s own behavior and words.

As a result, Jane Doe splashed a small amount of her drink toward the stage, acting in line with the behavior of other attendees.

The complaint states that Cardi B responded without warning and in apparent anger, throwing her microphone directly at the plaintiff and hitting her. The woman claims she suffered physical injuries along with emotional distress, humiliation, and ongoing psychological effects as a result of the incident.

Her attorneys argue that Cardi B either knew or should have understood that encouraging fans to throw water posed minimal risk compared to the danger of throwing a heavy object like a microphone. They also point to the fact that the microphone was later auctioned off, a move they say brought further attention to the incident and intensified the woman’s emotional harm.

In addition to suing Cardi B for assault, battery, and negligence, the woman is also pursuing claims against Drai’s Management Group, citing negligence and premises liability.

The lawsuit was filed in Clark County, Nevada, and seeks both compensatory and punitive damages.
