Cardi Pens Emotional Tribute To Takeoff: ‘This Has Truly Been A Nightmare’

Cardi B is mourning the death of Takeoff, the cousin and bandmate to her husband Offset. The rapper shared an emotional post on Instagram on Saturday, detailing the pain of Migos member’s death has caused.

“Takeoff your untimely passing has brought a great deal of pain and sorrow to so many lives. The impact you had in this world was so considerable and we have struggled to grasp this tragedy,” she wrote. “I am heartbroken but I am grateful for all the precious memories we got to share while you were here with us.”

“This has truly been a nightmare and the pain is incomparable. The emptiness your brothers are feeling is unbearable and I pray that you give Offset, Quavo, and your friends and family the strength to keep going as they are trying to cope with this loss.”

Cardi asks Takeoff to send a sign to let his family know he is okay.

“I believe that angels send signs and beautiful dreams to loved ones to assure them that they’re watching them and they’re okay and happy,” Cardi wrote, “send your mom some of those.”

Cardi detailed being a Migos fan and comments on the significance of the rapper’s career. She notes that his family and fans will keep his memory alive.

“As a Migos fan it hurts me to look at pictures and videos of y’all together, and hearing y’all songs that changed the music industry and moved the culture and had the clubs lit,” she continued. “It hurts because I know it will never be the same again—but I know your bros and y’all fans will make sure the world never forgets the impact you made. I will remember your remarkable talent and your dope ass personality.”

She concludes the emotional post by saying she hopes that Takeoff is at peace and that she will love him forever.   

“I pray that you are at peace and in paradise because you deserve every bit of it,” Cardi says. “I know God opened the heavenly gates for you with a warm embrace. Rest in power TakeOff. I will also love you 4L & after.”

The “Bodak Yellow” rapper collaborated with the Migos multiple times over the years. Their most significant collaboration, 2017s “MotorSport,” featured Nicki Minaj and reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Takeoff, 28, was shot and killed on Nov. 1 outside a Houston bowling alley. His uncle and Migos bandmate, Quavo, was with him at the time of the shooting. Quavo was not injured during the incident. 

The shooting is still under investigation, and police have not identified any suspects. The Houston Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact them.
