Just one day after having her murder charges dropped, Chicago mother Carlishia Hood has filed a lawsuit against the city.
On Tuesday, Hood filed documents in Cook County Circuit Court against Chicago as well as the officers who arrested her along with her 14-year-old son. Hood was originally charged with murder and held on $3 million bond for allegedly ordering her son to shoot Jeremy Brown, the man who beat her up inside Maxwell Street Express as they both waited in line for food. The teen shot the attacker multiple times. He was charged as a juvenile and held without bond. On Monday, it was announced that the State Attorney’s Office was dropping charges following new evidence. The pair has since been released from jail. However, Hood still wants someone to pay for the detentions, which she feels were unjust.
“What happened to me was totally unnecessary. Never in a million years would I have imagined being brutally attacked, beaten, and being arrested,” she shared at a press conference shortly after the lawsuit was filed.
Video footage of the incident is partially why the charges were dropped. Brown was seen threatening to hit Hood if she said another word to him. It’s unknown what started the verbal altercation, but at no point was Hood seen hitting Brown. He punched her several times as onlookers stood by. Hood’s son was waiting in the car and received a text from his mother instructing him to bring her gun inside the eatery. After shooting Brown, he chased the man outside and shot him a second time. Brown died later at a local hospital. Neither mother nor son had any previous criminal history.
In the lawsuit, Hood is accusing the city of Chicago of false arrest, malicious prosecution, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Officials have not publicly commented on the lawsuit.

Make the city pay for her going back and forth. What if she didn’t say nothing to the man ot go back and forth be accountable for your actions your son got off on an over kill.
Her son was afraid and I’m sure felt like he would not be able to save her had he not shot the man. He may have also felt like he needed to finish because of how much killing is in that city. Meaning he probably felt like Brown was running to get his own gun. And wow you blame her. She’s an adult. She can speak if she wants to. I personally would have tried to find some way to disengage but that doesnt mean she is wrong for doing the opposite. She was not yelling and was very calm. It did not warrant him to hit her repeatedly and that forcefully. Because she didn’t shut up? Adults are supposed to behave like adults.
