Cassie Ventura is at the center of Diddy’s federal sex trafficking trial, taking the witness stand to share her firsthand experience with what prosecutors describe as years of manipulation and abuse.
In emotional testimony, Cassie said she was in her early 20s when Combs first introduced her to what he called “Freak Offs,” sex parties involving multiple participants.
She told the jury she was around 22 when it happened. The moment he brought it up, she said it filled her with panic. “I just remember my stomach falling to my butt. Just the nervousness and confusion in that moment,” she recalled.
According to Cassie, refusing him didn’t feel like a real option. She described living under constant pressure, with little control over her life. “I didn’t know what ‘no’ could be, or what ‘no’ could turn into,” she said, implying that rejecting Combs could lead to consequences, sometimes violent ones.
She painted a picture of a relationship where Combs dictated nearly everything. “Sean controlled a lot of my life, whether it was career, the way I dressed, everything, everything. I just didn’t have much say in it at the time,” she testified.
“Sean is a really polarizing person, also really charming. It’s hard to really be able to decide in that moment what you need when he’s telling you what he wants. I just didn’t know. I didn’t know what would happen.”
Cassie also revealed that she feared the encounters would be leaked online. Her concerns echo what Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson claimed in court, that tapes of the “Freak Offs” were kept as “souvenirs of the most humiliating nights of [Ventura’s] life,” according to the Associated Press.
Combs is facing charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting people across state lines for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty.
Meanwhile, his legal team is working to counter damaging testimony. On the second day of trial, the defense questioned the credibility of Daniel Phillip, a male escort who testified that he saw Combs assault Cassie and feared she was in danger.
