Cassie Ventura returned to the witness stand Wednesday in the federal trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs.
While testifying in court, Ventura stated that her 2023 lawsuit against Combs—which included allegations of rape, physical abuse, and sex trafficking—was resolved within 24 hours for a settlement of $20 million. This is the first time the specific amount has been made public.
“It settled for $20 million in 24 hours,” she told the court.
Cassie filed the suit in November 2023, years after the couple’s long-term relationship ended in 2018. At the time, she was also planning to release a book about her experience. A day after the lawsuit was filed, news broke that the two had reached a private settlement, with terms kept confidential until now.
When asked why she chose to testify despite having previously settled, the singer and actress made it clear that the weight of her past experiences remained. “I can’t carry this anymore. What’s wrong is wrong,” she said.
Cassie also reflected on the emotional toll of their relationship, which began when she was 22. She said the things she participated in—often under pressure—left lasting shame.
“I took on a lot of responsibility for that that I never should have,” she said. “It was expected of me. I felt terrible.”
The federal trial, which began this week, is the first time Cassie and Combs have come face-to-face since their breakup. Among those who’ve taken the stand are a former hotel security guard who witnessed a 2016 physical altercation, and a dancer who testified about events involving escorts hired by Combs.
In testimony earlier this week, Cassie described repeated incidents in which she was pressured into drug-fueled group sex acts, sometimes involving male escorts. She claimed Combs forced her to endure degrading behavior, including a disturbing moment where she was allegedly urinated on during one of the encounters.
The trial continues in a Manhattan federal courtroom, with more witness testimony expected in the coming days. Combs has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
