A Louisiana catering company is taking full responsibility for the $55 “Fyre Fest” brunch that has been wrongfully associated with Kanye West and his Sunday Service team.
According to TMZ, Kanye and his crew performed in Baton Rouge Friday night at the annual “Brunchella” fundraising event at Bethany Church where guests were charged $55 per plate.
One unsatisfied guest documented their meal on social media showing a plate of pancakes, sausage, and a couple of slices of bacon. The post quickly went viral as many compared the food to the meals served at the now-infamous Fyre Festival.
Kanye and his team came under fire for the subpar catering at the event with people accusing him of being the one who was charging for the meal. But sources close to the event told TMZ that Kanye had nothing to do with it.
In fact, sources said Kanye didn’t receive any money to perform Friday and covered all travel costs for his entire team and choir as well.
The catering company behind the meal, Lauryn’s Fine Catering, told TMZ in a statement “The catering company acknowledges it did not provide adequate food for ONE attendee and a social media post went viral.”
They continued, “Kanye West and the Sunday Service collective should be disassociated with such claims surrounding the food at the event.”
West and his team offered no comment.
